San Diego Rowing Club – Masters Rowing Programs
SDRC is set up for men and women to train year-round whether they are just learning to row or have decades of rowing experience.
If you have never rowed or would like a bit of a refresher start with our Learn to Row classes. From there you can move on to our Recreational Rowing Program.
If you are an experienced rower, join SDRC and get checked out to use our world-class equipment and consider joining the Recreational Rowing Program or the Competitive Team.
RECREATIONAL ROWING TEAM
Tue/Thu 6-8pm, Sun 8-10a
This is a year-round program with a focus on improving fitness and rowing technique in a group setting that promotes the enjoyment of the sport. This program is for rowers who:
- Have completed a Learn to Row class or have prior rowing experience.
- Don’t wish to race, or only race casually/locally.
- Need flexibility to accommodate their personal and work schedules, attendance is not mandatory.
- Want to improve rowing skills, technique and fitness.
- Want to transition into the Competitive Program. You may ask to be evaluated by the coach to ensure you are ready for the competitive team.

$150/QTR. This is a year round program that is billed quarterly. To join simply show up the first day you can make it and have FUN!
Sweep rowing class introduces sweep (team boat) technique, terminology, and water safety using a training barge, then moving quickly into the sleek racing shells. Class min: 6
Sculling class introduces sculling technique, terminology, and water safety using recreational singles. Small class size ensures individual attention and rapid progression. Class min: 3, max: 5 Available Classes
COMPETITIVE TEAM
The SDRC Masters Competitive Program has had tremendous success over the years in all boat classes and age categories with multiple wins at races that include the prestigious Head of the Charles, Crew Classic as well as numerous National Championships.
Rowers committed to training and racing year-round. Focus is on continually improving fitness and technique in order to compete at any/all local, regional, national and international regattas. Year round coaching is encouraged at this level.
Highlights:
- Training sessions run by a highly qualified, safety-certified coach working to meet the needs of all athletes.
- Published trainings 6 days a week, coached on water 3 days a week
- Boatings determined by coach
- Focused sessions per the goals of the rowers and upcoming races
- Full regatta support
- Any boat, any seat, any time
- Sign up for practices for the upcoming week
- Sign up for races you plan to attend 2-3 months in advance
Cost: $210/QTR. This is a year round program that is billed quarterly. (QTRs: Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, Jul-Sep, Oct-Dec)
