High Performance

The focus of San Diego Rowing Club’s High Performance Group is to help elevate both collegiate and senior Women/Men to a competitive finish at all National Selection Regattas, Selection Camps, and International Races representing the USA.

In an effort to continue the SDRC culture, we firmly believe that every athlete’s ambition and goals come first. For this reason, we will do our best to provide financial support, housing, and jobs in hopes that each athlete will be equipped with the right tools to continue their success and leadership, even after their goals in rowing have been met.
Investing in each athlete is a direct investment in our boat club and culture, which is why it is important to provide a competitive, but fair environment for those looking to build on their international success.

Coach

The High Performance Program will be headed by Coach Sam Stitt, who served on the US National Team 14 years in a row and placed 5th in the Men’s Quadruple Sculls in Beijing 2008. Sam has coached at every level of rowing, from high school up to masters. His background is primarily sculling based, since friends don’t let friends sweep.

Coach Stitt not only has a diverse knowledge of both sweep and sculling technique, but experience rowing for different coaches in both a camp system, as well as a trial system. Stitt firmly believes that each athlete is responsible for their own success, which is why his number one goal is to set up a competitive, but fair, environment for each athlete to reach their maximum potential.

Coach Sam can be reached at sam@sandiegorowing.org if you have any questions.
